What is a GSM to KG Calculator?

How to Convert GSM to KG?

To find the weight of the paper or the fabric, you should have the idea about the GSM of the material and the dimensiosn of the material. Once you have the GSM value, and the dimensions value, then you can easily calculate the weight of the material using the following formula:

Weight (KG) = [GSM (g/m2) x Length (m) x Breadth (m)]/1000

where:

  • GSM is the grams per square meter of the material
  • Length is the length of the material (in meters)
  • Breadth is the breadth of the material (in meters)
  • Weight is the weight of the material (in kilograms)

Note: Here, we are dividing by 1000 to convert the grams into kilograms.

Example

Example: Calculate the weight of an A4 paper of 90 GSM.

GSM of the Paper = 90g/m2

Length of the A4 paper = 0.29m

Width of the A4 paper = 0.21m

Now, we have the GSM value of the paper and dimensions of the paper. So, we’ll use the grammage formula to calculate the weight of the paper.

Weight (Kg) = (90 x 0.29 x 0.21)/1000 = 0.005481 Kg

Thus, the weight of the A4 paper of 90 GSM is 0.005481 kg or 5.48 g.
